Default Will MobileMe Sync Outlook Inbox EVER?

I'm confused..I have Verizon Wireless Sync with my MotoQ9C and the application that sits in my tray reads my inbox, my calendar and my contacts and propogates changes either way. So, if I read an email on my Q, it shows up as read in my desktop outlook. More importantly, when I send an email, or respond to one, it's reflected in my desktop. Something that I consider CRITICAL for business purposes.

Question: MobileMe sits right there in the same tray, interacts with the same Outlook as Wireless Sync, but ignores the inbox. WHY???

Does anybody know why they do this and if this is going to change???

Thanks all..

So you have your MobileMe xxx@me.com email account set up to be checked through Outlook on your PC and when you make a change to the messages in your inbox on your computer, they are not reflected on your iPhone? Is that what you mean?

Sorry...I should've been more clear on that issue. What I'm referring to is MY email, not mobileme email...I could care less about mymail@me.com...what use is that? I'm not going to change my work email address to "me.com" to fit into Apple's idea of how it should be. That's my point...why can't MM interact with your "own" inbox, like it does with your "own" calendar and "own" contacts in Outlook?

You have to set up mobileme as an imap account in outlook then choose which folders you want it to sync. Mobileme syncs all my folders, inbox, sent folders, created folders etc...

Are you talking about it syncing your mobile me email folders? Does it sync your own, not MM inbox and keep track of emails that you send on the device and populate that back in your sent folder in outlook?

Yes, anything I do on the phone is reflected in both the mobileme web application and in the mobileme folder in outlook (once syncd) to include the deleted items folder. Any folder in mobileme that I have chosen to sync in outlook is syncd. Whatever I do in one location (me.com, phone or outlook on my desktop) is reflected in the other two.

I spent at least a total of 2 hours with MM tech support emails and chats and they said that if I wanted to get "my work email" to sync with my phone use (meaning that when I look at a work email on my iphone it will show up as read in my outlook/when I send an email, it will instantly show up in my sent file on my computer's outlook) and my desktop use (cross populating) I needed to change my work email to an IMAP account! They said (more than several people that I chatted with) that MM does not sync your own email account wirelessly...it ONLY interacts with your MM email (ONLY) and your own contacts and calendar.

I guess I misunderstood exactly what you wanted to do. MM will not sync mail that is not sent to/from the .me account. I find it hard to believe that any other client will do what you want either with the exception of multiple exchange accounts on the phone and outlook and then it's several accounts not just one, I do not know if it is possible to set up multiple email exchange accounts on the iPhone or not, but as they said imap will do what you want, if your work email supports imap, it shouldn't be a problem.

You could have all your mail forwarded to your MM account, but if you reply from any address other than your .me account it will not keep track of those sent items.

Verizon's Wireless Sync and MobileMe are two completely different things. Wireless Sync just lets you sync email accounts on your phone. It's more or less and email application. MobileMe is an email service. It's like your trying to compare Outlook (application) and Gmail (service).

Mobile Me is Apple's lame answer to Verizon's Wireless Sync. It's not a email program! Gmail's an email program...why would you want to pay $99 a year for their email? It's a sync program that fails to sync everything that's important...like your favorite email in the same Outlook that it syncs your contacts and calendar. That's what it is.
