My wife and I do this very thing. It's the only reason that I have mobile me actually. All you have to do is put the mobile me account on both iphones and then you can just sync the calendar on your hubbies phone. That way your calendars are synced but he keeps his contacts/bookmarks....

The only 'problem' that you could have is that he will now get all of your emails. It's not a problem for us because I dont use my .mac email for normal email stuff so it's not sending my wife emails that she doesnt want all the time.

When you set up Mobile Me on the iPhone, the settings page has separate on/off buttons for syncing calendar, contacts, and email. My wife and I share the same contact list and calendar, but not email. I just clicked "ON" for calendar and contacts, and left it "OFF" for email. No sweat. And the syncing is GREAT between the MobileMe cloud and both iPhones.

Where I'm going nuts, though, is the syncing between the cloud and Outlook on our laptops. No rhyme or reason to what gets synced and what doesn't. Most frustrating of all is when entire chunks of appointments will disappear from the desktop, or the cloud, or vice versa. It's so unreliable that I've ditched MobileMe for now. I'm praying that Apple fixes it soon, since getting our calendar synced between the wife and me would be Nirvana.

I see you are in Winter Park-where did you get your iphone? I live in Brevard County. I got my iphone at my local ATT store, but my macbook at the Apple store in Millennium Mall. I also got my iphone replaced there (2 times).

You are correct!!! My white iPhone looks great sitting next to or one my white MacBook. I always get asked if it is a remote for the MacBook by people who have been in hiding and not seen an iPhone. I tell them yes because I do have remote installed on my iPhone so it technically is !!

Here is THE solution if you want to keep 2 accounts separate. You need to get the family plan and set your hubby's or wife's (boyfriend/girlfriend) Mobile Me account to their phone. Essentially, you're getting two Mobile Me accounts for $149 for the year, instead of two Mobile Me accounts for $99 each. This is how I have it set up with my girlfriend and myself. Also, with the family pack, you get 4 additional accounts to use and manage, so in essence, you get 5 accounts for $149 per year. That is really a good deal. Maybe you could 'sell' an account to a or something and set them up with MMe to make back the difference.

On the other hand, if you just want to sync the your calendar to your significant other's phone, then just use the one account and forget what I said before. LOL

My wife is considering an iPhone, and this seems like a nice solution as far as the calendar goes. Here's my question: what happens as far as contacts are concerned? Will she be SOL as far as keeping her own contacts?

Thanks.

No, the MobileMe config page has these options on both your computer and your iPhone:

Calendar Sync On/Off
Contacts Sync On/Off
Bookmarks Sync On/Off
Email sync On/Off

So...you can set MobileMe to update both of your calendars on the fly from the "cloud", and then use iTunes to sync your contacts on your computer over the USB connection.

As Paul Newman understatedly said in the Hudsucker Proxy at the height of his evildoing,

"This...is...useful."

Thanks kindly!

OK...just an update to my own post--we have been doing splendid on the Mobile me...all we want it for is calendar stuff anyway, and I use it for contacts and that's about it.

But it's working great for those of you that only want certain "sharing" abilities with a significant other.

Thanks!

This may be a dumb question, but I assume this means I can actually do this now to have my calenders on her desktop, regardless of whether she gets an iPhone, right?

I could do this instead of the Busy Sync proggy I've been using?
