If I remember correctly Apple was sending out muscle to enforce "cease and desist" orders for sites with the word "iPhone" in the URL. I believe there is a sticky posted on this site from the owner Chris explaining the exact reason.

It was changed due to the word iPhone being in the URL, as mentioned above. A bunch of other sites had to change as well - ModMyiFone was ModMyiPhone.

Also, instead of EIC, we used to call the site "EIP". Saying the latter sounds a bit odd now.

I first was a member of everythingTreo, then when I first got the iPhone joined EIP, then when I got interested in knowing everything that it has to offer, I typed in the browser EIP.com, wondered what the heck this iCafe was all about.
