depends on what you're using it for. are you into gaming, photo-, or video-editing? Any other special applications you need to use?

then, in your case, i would say the extra $300 is definitely worth it. especially if you want it to last you through college.

I totally agree. Save up the extra $300 if you have to and get the new one. It will be worth it for photoshop alone.

Hey man, I'm in the same situation. I would go for the new MacBook. It will last you longer than the plastic one, but wait a while. I heard that there seems to be a problem with the click pad.

I agree with the others. If you're needing it to last throughout college then you may as well get up the $300 and get the "best" that is currently offered.

I still don't trust the uniclickpad though.

i've used it a bit at work, and it's fine... at least the ones i used. If you don't like how it clicks, then just tap. I don't really see the issue.

It's not that I don't like the way it clicks, it's just that I like having a separate button in case I want to click as opposed to tap. I have tap set up on the MBA but find myself clicking more than tapping.

but you CAN still click... granted, it's not even across the pad, but the choice is still there.
