Default MacBook = No Remote

So it appears that kokogirl wasn't the only person to not get a remote - it is now shipped like that. First Apple charges 20 for iTouch updates, now they expect 20 bucks for an apple remote.

The MacBook / MacBook Pro update wasn't "major" but it brought about some changes to the Apple line of notebooks. However, one feature that the new 'books are lacking is the inclusion of an Apple remote. The Apple remote is now a $19 accessory. Currently, the only computers that Apple is including the remote with (as standard) are the iMac and Mac mini.

You can still use Front Row (Apple's media management application) without a remote. To start Front Row, just press Command + esc on your keyboard. You can also launch Front Row by clicking it in your applications folder (if you are running Mac OS X Leopard). To navigate through the menus, just use the arrow keys on your keyboard.

What do you think about Apple not including the remote with their line of notebooks? Sound off in the comments!
This is old news, by few days but it must have flew over my head that day on TUAW.

As I said in one of these threads before, Apple has removed what we have considered to be standard and now charging a price for these things.

I got my MB just under a month before the newer models came out; which did come with the remote. I thought about exchanging mine, but IMO, the 2.2GHz vs 2.4GHz, didnt seem like a vast difference and not worth the additional money.

It was released at the end of october, and I just missed the deadline where they would let you upgrade for cheap (I think it was 10 dollars)

I was reading this post probably while you were replying:

If I buy MacBook now, will Apple upgrade to Leopard within 30 days free?

One of the things that has occurred to me is that Apple's OS are way cheaper than Microsoft. So even if I had missed the deadline, I would have purchased it either way.

I know the price isn't bad at all, I just don't really know if I need it. That is the main reason I haven't upgraded yet.

Got'cha Since I've never used Tiger, I have no idea of it offers anything more than what Leopard has to offer. Thats just like XP and Vista. My desktop is XP and I haven't felt that Vista offered anything other than headaches; so I've no plans on upgrading.
