spaces issue

so not sure if any of you use spaces, but i use my macbook pro for college and leisure. anyways, i have my spaces setup for 6 different screens that are coordinated in this way

1 - internet and other typical apps
2 - itunes, limewire, bittorrent and other music stuff
3 - ichat
4 - email
5 - word, excel, powerpoint, and other school stuff
6 - calender

anyways, sometimes when i am working in space 5 on school stuff, **** gets all crazy on me. for instance i will have a couple different programs open (word, excel) because i am a finance major and work a lot with excel spreadsheets and do write ups in word. anyways, when i get a new document starting and try to save it for instance (or sometimes even click on it), the spaces jumps to another screen (mostly 3 or 6) and i have to keep going back three or four times to finally get it to save (which stops the issue for the time being. i'm just wondering if anyone has had an issue like this and if there is any cure. it really only seems to happen with word, excel or powerpoint, but it has happened before when running safari and itunes (but rarely). thanks for any advice.

i'm sure upload can share his spaces prowess... i personally hate using it.
