Default Macbook or Macbook Pro

Hey all. Well I have finally made up my mind to make the switch from PC to Mac. I was looking at the Black Macbook. However, i also like the Macbook Pro. Can i get some useful input on which one I should go with.

Thanks in advance

It depends.

The MacBook is a more compact, lightweight computer. In my opinion, it's better designed than the MacBookPro.

The MacBookPro is exactly what it says it is: The MacBook, but Pro style. It can handle more, and is better if you're going to use it for work, etc.

They both have the same hardware and software features. The Pro is also, of course, a bit more expensive. I have the Pro and I love it.

Or do what I did, go for the one you like the best. I chose the MacBook Pro. I didn't like the plastic white pr black casses. Sure I just use it for internet and syncing with my iPhone and iPod but I have a great looking computer to do it with!

i also went with the MacBookPro... but im a graphic designer so i needed it for work on the go...i used my girlfriends MacBook with adobe and it only really worked well when plugged in...and the MacBookPro works freaking AWESOME on the move...also you gotta think if you want to edit/create movies the bigger screen will also be good for you...just my opinion

I've been weighing this decision as well. I've decided my present to myself will be the MacBook. I think the Pro for me, would be overkill. And I like just how small the MacBook is.

Now I just need to decide; black or white?

Decisions.....decisions!

Yeah, go with the Macbook. Buying an overpowered unit is just crazy if you're not going to use it.

Macbooks are generally superior to the current generation of Windows based notebooks - especially the ones with Vista (ugh) - so it'll serve you well for a good while.

Oh and get a black one - the white ones can get a bit scabby after a while.

Anyone seen any more information on the rumors a month or so ago that the MacBook line was going to the brushed aluminum look of the rest of the line? The story seemed to be only a matter of when.

I too am in the decision quandry -- last time I was in an Apple store, I saw that the Pro was only a couple of hundred dollars more than the MacBook, the way I would get it configured so seemed to be a no brainer with the larger screen size. But now remain torn between the glossy vs matte monitor. I both do graphic design and go to press with 4 color work but also like the vivid appearance of personal pics and videos.......

Personally I have a MBP and I love it. I got it for two reasons

1. The better video card. If you are ever going to do video editing or gaming, then you want the better card. Plus it doesn't tax your system by having to use shared memory. Overall much faster and nicer.
2. The screen size. The resolution on the MB just doesn't do it for me. I'm a huge multitasker and always have a ton of windows open. With the MBP I can see a few windows at once and not have to hid them. I would be doing a lot more switching on the MB. Plus being a programmer, you always want the most real estate you can get. I only wish the 15.4 MBP were 1680 and I would get a new one.

BTW, mine is one of the original MBP. I bought it two weeks after the announcement and I'm still using it. I've upgraded the RAM and the hard drive, but it still runs like a champ. And I'm still getting great battery life (about 3 hours of normal use).
