Default Best way to set up iTunes on New MacBook & old iPhone?

I got a new MacBook Pro and need to set up
iTunes/iPhone. What's the best way to do
this? I've got 3 movies on the iPhone and
a fair amount of music, both iTunes purchased
and ripped mp3s.

I know the iPhone likes to sync with the mother
ship and if there isn't anything on the new one,
it likes to get rid of material on the iPhone.

Where are the source files? If you have the source files on an old PC or Mac, copy them over, and copy over the backup file. Then you should be able to sync no problem. Otherwise, Apple has a program (I'll search and get back to you) that will pull hte music and video from your phone onto your computer.

You may be prompted to " transfer purchases from iPhone" when you sync. I originally synced with my PC and then my mac. I do not remember any problems, but I did not have a lot of stuff on the iPhone when I switched over.

I think you can also tell it to transfer stuff from your iPhone. Other people here are more knowledgeable then I am.

Get iPhone drive, downloadable for less than $10. It will allow to transfer all you media files from the iPhone to your new Mac, whether they were purchased on iTunes or not.

It should come with ever new mac. So many people are buying macs for the first time after using an iPhone.
