    battery

how long does all of your batteries last on your MBP's? when i unplug mine, i usually set the brightness on the screen to about half, turn off the keyboard light, bluetooth is always turned off, and i will close any processes that are running that i don't need. my time prediction is usually about 3 hours and 10 minutes or so, and even then it doesn't seem to last that long. was wondering what you all are getting and if you know any tricks to help prolong the battery life. thanks!

hmmmm yah i couldn't get close to 4 hours with stuff turned all the way down and like no processes running. i'll have to compare with my sisters this weekend when i see her and see what the deal is. is this sort of thing covered under warranty anyone know, and can they test for it??

After owning your MBP for a while, you will see the battery charge decrease over time. A couple of months ago, I got 2h45m of power with settings up high and wifi. Now it's down to 2h10m :/

hey pepr, how old is your MBP?
mine's outta the box as of yesterday, a march of 08 issue to the store i bought it from (so in the box for about 4mos) - i havent gauged it yet, though the battery said >4.5 hours after the first full charge, i'd estimate at about 4hrs of straight usage, med bright screen and keylight

Is this a big issue? I might reconsider getting a macbook in that case.

    3GS was somewhat dissapointing.

not a big issue... i got mine in febuary, and consistently get 3+ hours of internet browsing, word processing, and itunes without bothering to optimize the power settings. If i'm playing a game or something maybe an hour or so. Li-ion batteries are gonna degrade over time no matter which computer you go with.
