Default Where are iPhone notes synced on Powerbook

I'm a newbie here so hello all, and thanks to those who help for this is so needed with the iPhone...

I have a question that I'm sure someone wiser than myself will know the answer to any help would be much appreciated.

I'm a Mac user since Mac Plus so not a complete monkey, but I'm no software writer either, just a user... Having got iPhone 3G, I was advised by Apple to do a full Restore to fix potential bluetooth problem (still investigating) I lost all my notes completely, and can't find them backed up anywhere, and the App isn't even listed in iTunes. Where on earth are they, or do they ever actually hit my Powerbook when I sync with iTunes at all?

Only workaround I can find is to email them all to myself (and only then on my .mac account!) I thought they'd at least appear in Notes in Mail in the Powerbook, but they seem to be completely unrelated. Nothing in Mail, or iCal from Notes in iPhone. Is this normal behaviour?

Thanks in advance to any kind soul who has any thoughts or wisdom to share.

    Best,
    Ian

    Welcome to EiC!

You've found one of the most annoying issues with the iPhone - Notes are not synced with any app on your Mac or anywhere else. Not iCal, Mail, nothing. They are instead part of the back-up file created when you sync your iPhone via iTunes and go back to your iPhone when restoring from a back-up.

It sounds like you've already gone ahead and restored your iPhone, but you should make sure you have a very recent back-up in iTunes before you do this in the future. You can check by going to the Preferences in iTunes and looking in the Devices section - there you'll see the latest back-ups saved for your iPhone.

Thanks for the wise words. Yes, it's a frustration - up there with cut and paste.

I'm sure I did a sync up not too long before the Restore operation (I assume a backup happens whenever you sync in iTunes, no?) Anyway, all notes were then gone after. I just assumed that was normal and it left me a tad miffed that the Apple support guy who talked me through it didn't tell me to "back up all your notes before you do the Restore" or something.
Ho hum - we're getting there, bit by bit I guess...
    Thanks again.
