Default To anyone familiar with Time Capsules or AirPorts...

...PLEASE help. I've been fighting my Time capsule off and on for a month or so now. All i'm trying to do is make it a wireless Bridge, but after the initial setup, it restarts, and the Airport utility does not recognize it. I eventually get a timeout error message that says "Airport Utility was unable to find your Apple wireless device after restarting... The settings have been successfully updated, but there was a problem re-joining the wireless network or finding the Apple wireless device. You may need to select your wireless network from the Airport menu and ty again."

My computer i am working on is two feet away from the Time Capsule, and i have tried this at least six times today (both with the automated and manual setups), as well as numerous times this past month.

now, i am not the kind of person to assume i am doing everything correctly, and if there's a problem, it MUST be the hardware, but jeez... i'm calling uncle on this one.

so i guess my questions are these... has anyone heard of an error like this before? Am i doing something obviously wrong? Could this possibly be a faulty Time Capsule? Maybe bad firmware? Is there a way to reload the firmware?

thanks for any help. i'm at my wit's end.

well, i think i'm finally making some progress... up until a few minutes ago i had been trying to do this all wirelessly, and being that it wasn't working too well, decided to set it up via Ethernet, and also found an "interface robustness" option that is supposed to diminish wireless interference. I no longer have the not-recognizing problem, and the LED is blinking green when it is accessed, so it might be good.

Only problem is it won't work without the ethernet... which is kinda the whole point...

what is the set-up you're working toward? are you going to use the time capsule to bridge to another closed network you already have set up?

what i have right now is a peer-to-peer network, where one computer is sharing its internet connection to all of the others. I have to do it this way, because it's using a Sprint Aircard (no other high-speed options 'round these parts).

So i would like the Time capsule to extend the range of this network, as well as be available for backups.

It seems to be working, but only through ethernet. If i disconnect the ethernet, my computer (at least with the Airport Utility) no longer recognizes the Time Capsule.
