Time change issues?

OK, I am very new to MAC, so this is maybe just a setting somewhere, but I got a new Macbook. I synced my iPhone to the Macbook and in iCal my appointments for next week all show 1 hour early. They are correct on the iPhone where I entered them. I assumed that the iPhone and Macbook were both new enough and up to date enough that the new time change would not be an issue. What do I do to fix this?

go to your settings; then go to date/time; go to the bottom and type in your city. For some reason this happened to me today and the above fixed the issue.
