i think if you open your iphone's settings in iTunes, and open the "info" tab at the top, you can set it to sync your contacts to the mac's address book. As of now, it's probably set to entourage or Exchange or whatever...

so i think if you switch it to the Mac's address Book for one sync, and choose to "merge contacts" between your phone and Mac, then it will do it. Once that is complete, switch the setting in iTunes back to sync with entourage or exchange, and then it will resume syncing with your exchange server, but your mac will remember the contacts that were synced to it.

nope, if you turn off exchange access, then you delete all contacts from your phone.

anyone else?

bummer. if that didn't work, i don't think there is a way to do it through the iphone. You may have to go with the standard version of Office 08 for Mac to get entourage with Exchange Server support.

I'm having the same problems as far as syncing iCal but when I try to do what you guys are suggesting I can't because at calendars under the INFO Tab it says "Your calendars are being synced over the air with Microsoft Exchange. Over the air settings can be changed in your iPhone." But I definitely don't want to use MS EXchange and I've looked in the phone to where I can change that but I didn't see anything. Can someone tell me where exactly to look or what my other options are?

look harder: settings\mail\account name\

there, you can either remove activesync, or delete the account.

Yea I found it right after I posted...all I had to do is disable calendars on my exchange account. Thanks

I'm NOT using mobile me and have the same problem: the iCal calendar on my macbook screen is not the same as on my iPhone: the colors are not the same. (I lose the help that color-coding provides.) I read somewhere that this is "normal" and the only fix is to sync WITHOUT the cable, by air. I can't figure out how to do that. Any ideas?

you can't sync "by air" without mobileme.

here is an interesting thread on the apple support form with some workarounds.

i bet it has something to do with the daylight savings or timezone setting on your iphone (or maybe your mac).

go to settings->general->date & time and see what the settings are.
