    Questions about Mac

I am getting ready to buy a mac. Never owned one, but from watching videos on youtube about them, I just gotta get one. I have about $3,000 to spare on one. I am thinking about getting an iMac with a 24" screen. But I have a few questions:

1: Will my iPhone settings convert over to the mac on their own or will I have to restore it?

2: Is the camera and iChat really as good as seen in the videos? I assume if it is, the people on the other end will see a quality picture, but I will only see the quality their camera puts out. Is this correct?

3: The iMac is less than $2,000 so I will have money left over for upgrades. What should I get? I don't want it to be a dinosaur in 6 months!
If at first you don't succeed...... Aim for the head!

    1. You should be able to sync with more than one computer and therefore, transfer your contacts, and just about anything else. Here is some INFO from iPhone Atlas.

    2. Yes and yes

    3. If you do a lot of movies/graphic stuff, get the faster processor (2.8Ghz), 4GB of memory and a larger HD (lat least the 750GB). If you don't, I'd still get the faster processor. Memory can be upgraded later (up to 4GB). I always get the AppleCare Protection plan, mainly for access to 3 years of free support. I still have to have a Mac (in 15 years) that needed to be sent away for repairs. The worst thing that ever happened to me is that a videocard went bad and I put the new one in myself (a swap job).

    i would go with this
    2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme
    2GB memory
    500GB hard drive1
    8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory
do not expand the memory with apple save a few $100 by going here www.ramjet.com. then get a nice external hard disk 7200rpm 500gig and you should be good to go, as apple do not make a external camera anymore the built in ones are quite good.

    ENJOY your new mac.
and if you have another $129 spare from saving money on the RAM get some of these the girls love em

    1) You'll be able to transfer everything over. When you plug in the iPhone, it will say "This iPhone is synced with another iTunes library. Would you like to sync it with this one instead?". Or something along those lines.

    2) I really like iChat, and the camera has excellent quality.

    3) Get a faster processor, Apple Care, and if you don't already an Air Port. They're really nice, especially the ones Apple makes.

    Enjoy your Mac.
