Default iphone opens in iphoto

when i dock my phone, iphoto opens instead of itunes. i open itunes manually and there's no problem, but i don't understand why iphoto opens automatically. i checked preferences and even rebuit permissions on my computer. still does it.

is anyone else have this peculiarity, know why it is happening, and know how to change it?

thanks

carl

Did you take any photos with it?
If so, it wants to offload them in iPhoto just as if you had connected your digital camera.

ah...that's makes sense. it thinks i'm connecting a camera.

iphoto is an ingester and downloads from the phone; itunes is a deliverer and will download TO your phone but not FROM it.

how would i disable this from happening if i don't want iphoto to open every time i dock the phone?

I'm sure there's a setting somewhere inside iPhoto, just like iTunes' option that says "sync automatically when I connect the iPhone" or whatever it says...

Actually, it's kind of convoluted.
You have to open Image Capture, which is located in your Applications folder.
Go to Preferences and set what you want to have happen when you connect a camera.

I do not know where Image Capture Application is located. Could someone help me locate this so that I can turn off the auto pop of of iPhoto. Thank you.

THANK YOU. While I'm not having a problem with iTunes not opening, it is kind of a pain to have iPhoto open all the time. I'll try this.
