Strange iTune Syncing problem

This just started happening recently, not long after 2.0 and 7.7. (but not right after!?) My podcasts aren't syncing properly. The settings selected in my (G1) iphone menu WERE set to "all" from the dropdown list and then the 'selected podcasts' is checked. Previously, when set up like this, ONLY the podcasts that I've checked in the individual Podcast folders were synched.

Recently, it tries to sync everything, even the unchecked podcasts and of course they won't all fit on the iphone. Any ideas for this unexpected behavior? As a workaround I've been forced to select "10 most recent unplayed" from the dropdown box ('selected podcasts' is still checked).

And it's still working funny because it is moving the last 10 podcasts even if they have been played despite the fact that "10 most recent unplayed" is clearly selected.

Any thoughts?

I don't listen to Podcasts, so I'm probably not your biggest help here, but I suggest Restoring the iPhone and then reinstalling iTunes.
