According to what he said, he just deleted a bunch of saved emails from his phone but you have 11 GB so I doubt that's your problem. But you can delete all the email you don't really need to be keeping on your phone and I guess if you had tons of sms or mms messages that might matter too.

Of course that he said 1.53 MB, which is a tiny amount. He probably meant 1.53 GB which is larger than I consider normal. Mine has never gotten above 600 MB.

Thanks for getting back.

I do have loads of emails on my yahoo account. I have always just left them there as kind of permanent record. The thought of deleting them does not fill me with glee.

That section is for the Operating system as well as settings, email, SMS, etc. It's generally just a few hundred MB. If yours is that large (11 GB), it's likely corrupt files such as iPhone incompatible videos, that were sync'd on. If rebooting and syncing in iTunes doesn't clear it, you'll need to restore to factory settings.
