iTunes and Windows Media Player

I have a new computer, and have iTunes to manage my iPhone and iPod Shuffle. When I wanted to listen to a streaming radio station (one that's not listed on the Radio section of iTunes) I was told I needed to install Windows Media Player 9 -- and it would be my default media player for basically everything.

1) If I install Windows Media Player 9, does that have any negative effect on iTunes?
2) If I install Windows Media Player 9, is there anything I should definintely uncheck in the installation process?
