Default Creating New Account

Our family has been using the same iTunes account for several years. Now w/ the advent of the iPhone 3G, apps, songs, etc. - all have been purchased w/ the same Username and Password. If I wanted to create a new account, how do I insure all my purchases on the other account will follow me?

Thank you.

you won't be able to get them linked to your new account, but there are a couple of things you can do.

1) Continue to authorize each computer to use the old account's purchases. The problem with this is that you can only have 5 computers authorized per account, which may be a problem if your family wants to authorize each of their computers for that account.

2) You can remove the protection on the songs by burning them to an audio CD with iTunes, and then re-importing that CD (as you would with a CD purchased at a store). Obviously, the downside here is that this may take a while if you have a large number of tracks... and it won't work for videos or apps.

if neither of those options are acceptable, you may want to call iTunes customer service, and see if they might shift your licenses around for you... i've heard of them making similar exceptions before.
