Default Adding songs to iTunes ripped from another source

When you first install iTunes, it offers to search your drive for media and add that media to your library. Is there a way to initiate that process later? We've ripped about 10 CDs with another product (as mp3s), and I want to get them into iTunes without importing each CD folder individually (I'd rather iTunes do the work for me!). Is that possible? And if it is, does it skip over songs it finds that are already in the library (and not create duplicates)? Thanks! (BTW--I have searched all the menus and iTunes help, but have not been successful.)
