Restrictions?

So I bought my friends ipod touch off of him, and he gave me the passcode, but when i went to put apps on it it was locked out, like i couldn't press sync. I looked at the settings on my ipod, and it said there were restrictions on it, so i figured it would be the same passcode he gave me, but it wasn't. Is there a way to reset that or do I have to wait until i see him again to ask for it?
