ipod touch help

it just started to happen.
i click install for the application, then it does its thing and it goes back to my home screen.
and the application i'm trying to download isn't even there. then when i use category its there but it has a question mark as an icon.
so i put it into my game folder i created and i click on the downloaded application. it just goes back to my home screen.

please help. thanks.
