HELP! Stuck on unlock... Chinese???

So my friend has a 16gig V1 touch. It is not jailbroken, as far as we know. I attached a couple pics so you can see where it's stuck at. iTunes wont connect. Discoverable restore mode won't work, nothing. We dont know how to get past this so that it can be restored. Can anyone help?!?!?!

it does look jailbroken, but that doesn't appear to be the problem that itunes is having. Are you using the itunes he normally syncs it with? If not, do that, because it (and only it) will be able to reset the password on the ipod.
