buying a used ipod touch

a friend of mine is selling a very used ipod touch.I want to buy it for my nephew.My question is, How do I change the personal info in itunes. (When you plug it into itunes,it comes up as "Joe Blow's ipod") .Can I just re-name the ipod ? or is there something else I would need to do ? I would also need to change the email to my nephews.

Restore as a new iPod then it will be like you got it from the store, you will enter all your/nephew's information and your good to go.

You can also erase the entire thing somewhere in the settings. on my iphone its settings > general > reset then there a lots of choices from their. Its very slow though.
