Default Confused About App Store Software

I'm kinda confused right now on what software you need for the app store. I'm guessing its not 1.1.4 because I keep seeing 2.0. Where can you download 2.0 if you need it to get the app store. There is no applications tab in my device window when I plug in my ipod. I need help.

You first update itunes. To do this, you can go to the site and download the new version, or under the info of your itouch, you press update. Go to the store and you will find the software update. This costs 10 dollars though. I havnt done it yet so it might be different.
