Hope of jailbreaking the iPod Touch 2 gen?

I'm new to this whole Ipod touch scene and all, but this video looks very promising and every single comment says that it works.

However, I must be doing something wrong, windows Vista 64 bit is just having a *****fit, or this is, in fact, the largest rick roll in internet history.

Can anyone confirm if this works or not and give me some feedback on what I might be doing wrong? The program recognizes that a device is plugged in, I browse for the firmware file, but when I open it with QuickPwn it just sits there and does nothing. The firmware file is simply in my c:/downloads folder, and I think this might have something to do with it.

I have also tried running the QuickPwn program in administrator mode and compatibility mode with win XP, with the same results.

I would love any help I could get and hopefully, if I'm just one lucky son of a *****, this actually works. Thanks.

Sorry mate this doesn't work. When the 2G is able to jailbreak, it will be all over every ipod website.

Anyone that claims that qwickpwn will jailbreak a gen 2 iPod is a liar. Quickpwn will never be able to do it. The hole that was exploited by that software has been secured in the gen 2 iPod. They will have to engineer an entirely new process to jailbreak it.

I bet the file this guy urges you to download has a trojan of some sort in it. Better do a virus check.

Seriously, if you want to know for sure that that is total B.S., and why it won't work, and also know what it's going to take, to avoid future scams, read the detailed manifesto that Chronic-Dev wrote. He took a lot of time and detail to explain:

1. How and why the old methods to jailbreak iPods and iPhones will NEVER work on the iPod Touch 2g, EVER.
2. Why making fake applications with viruses in them, and uploading them legitamately through the Apple Apps store will NEVER work.
3. Why making a fake iTunes program, or a fake Apps store will NEVER work.

These are the 3 methods most suggested by people that have not read the details in the google code page (or simply did not understand it), which is why he made a simple summary of the 2g jailbreak, and why they need an entirely new method.

He also explains that the "new jailbreak method" is pretty much "a complete mystery" so stop asking "how long till it's done?" As one astute person at google code page (who's forums are overrun by idiots thinking it's some sort of official "jailbreak news" webpage) worded it like this:
"Q: When is the exploit coming?"
"A: That's like predicting when we'll cure cancer!"

for your news of when a jailbreak is possible, cause if by some freak chance, that someone does discover an exploit and airs it on youtube, you can bet Chronic-Dev is going to test it out, and detail it on his page, and provide safe virus free links to any and all software required to do the job.

Check Chronic-Dev's latest blog entry, I believe there is a jailbreak for the 2G.

They actually figured out a way to downgrade it so the old jailbreak method would work.
