The iPod touch's screen is rock solid. Except when you start banging on it with rocks. But in normal use, it won't suffer the slightest scratch or damage.

And just a quick tip, Cut your fingernails often.

It helps with the detection of the screen and your finger.

There are pretty decent deals on big bazaar and Amazon. I saw one at the duty free shop too, it was for like $50 each and was a pretty decent screen cover.
