There is an option in iTunes that lets you decide whether or not to display album artwork on the computer. Once the iPod is plugged in, tell him to click on the device and go to the Music tab and in that tab you're given the choice to Sync Album Artwork. Just select that option and he should be set.

Also, tell him that he might have to restore and then sync everything again, I've heard that is sometimes necessary.
I took that screenshot on my Mac but I actually sync my 160 GB Classic to my other laptop and it shows as 69.97 GB of Video on the Mac but when I plugged it into the other laptop it showed up as 67.85 GB. Weird because I didn't do anything different before plugging it into the other computer.
