Question How to get Video Ipod Screen onto External Screen using A/V cable?

Hi,

With the A/V cable it is possible to play the video iPod content on an external monitor. But it will only play the actual MP4 and otherwise the screen is black. When you go to FF or REW it also brings the time code bar up on the external monitor.
The iPod will also play music through the same a/v cable, but it only sends a black video signal while music is playing.

Is there any hack for this? i.e when sending music out to an external source, it also sends the actual iPod screen content through the video line out. So that you would see the Album Artwork and the track playing on the external monitor while hearing the music?

It seems like an obvious and easy thing for the iPod to do?
Anyone having some idea about this?

Thanks

Try this. Pay particular attention to the page 2's instructions.

Thanks but the problem is not to see video files on external monitor/tv. What I need is to see all the menus and art work while iPod play music
Thanks

Isn't that what's shown in the "Now Playing" screenshot on page 2? If not, I have no other ideas for you, but you might you give it shot since you probably already have the cable.

This will only work if you have a video ipod. If you don't This wont work. You will be able to see the NOW playing for any song or video.

TV Out
Whenever you play a video file, your iPod must make a choice.
Video iPods either play video on the built-in screen or they transmit a video signal out of the microphone jack. They don't do both. The TV Out option controls which behavior occurs.
Use this setting to choose from:
1. No. Playback remains on the iPod itself.
2. Yes. A TV signal is produced.
3. Ask. The iPod prompts you whenever you play a video file.
I always use the Ask option. Yes, it does add an extra step whenever I play a video file, but it gives me the flexibility to choose playback behavior on a case-by-case basis. I like that.
TV Signal
European and Australian television sets use a different signal standard than those used in America and Japan. If you live in the U.S., your TV works with the NTSC standard. European countries mostly use PAL. Make sure you've selected the correct signal for your country.

As for the showing whats playing

Sorry Im running out of Ideas. Can you provide us with more information if this did not solve your problem already?
