a few weeks ago 8gig v1s could be found for $175-$200 on craigs. Immediatley after the rumor that you would need your v1 to get a v2, they shot back up. So do you think next week we will finally see the $100 8gig iPhone that I have been waiting for?
I think the V1's will hold their value for quite some time. While the 3G may seem to have diminished its value, they really are almost the same phone at the same price point (once you take away subsidizing). Add the fact that the V1 is easily unlockable, works on T-Mo, and no longer available, and that will contribute to keeping its prices up on Ebay all the way until the 3rd generation is announced/released.
I agree completely with Dave on this one. You're still going to have the people that:
A) Don't have available 3G and don't want to pay the extra $10 a month and
B) People in Europe that need an unlocked v1 phone.
The fact that Apple and AT&T are requiring activation to purchase the new iPhone 3G will cut into the number of unlocked sales of the new iPhone. The ETF will make it quite a bit less desirable.

yeah...ebay is madness!
the nice thing about craigslist is that people who don't want to deal with ebay are willing to sell much cheaper.
I'm hoping that the unlocking crowd's demand is much smaller than the v1 supply. Fingers crossed.
"Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take away our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!"
Wow I have never seen an iPhone for less than $300 dollars EVER, I need to go see what this craiglist is. . .
Edit: just checked, even then I couldnt find anyone in these "parts" selling one, but I did find someone selling a PS3 for $200 dollars
