They showed an Iphone and when you go to the screen where you dial it was actually a dial phone like the a rotary phone. I think it was one of the early commercials showing them show off the iphone. It may not have actually been a commercial but a clip from a demo with Steve Jobs

On the keynote where Steve introduced the phone, as a joke, he showed a pic of the original iPod with a rotary dial where the scroll wheel should be.

Maybe that's what you are thinking of?
