eye dropper + one drop of bleach = undisturbed water damage indicator.

How hard is this? Drop some bleach in your already screwed over iPhone and nobody will ever know any better!

There are 2 more water indicators inside the phone (Circuit Board) The one in the headphone just lets the Apple Rep at the store know it has possible water damage so they don't warranty it.

Also, no replacement of any kind (Service Unit) with water damage.

Most times the indicator is under the battery.

Terrible place to but a moisture indicator IMO ... Why not place it inside the SIM port. At least we would get a little protection.

I occasionally work with a friend of mine who owns two different mobile phone service repair centers, one being metroPCS and one being t-mobile and in both locations the only thing that we check for water damage is the red dot sticker. Some of these stickers are simply behind the battery other models have them inside of the phone. However there has been instances where I have opened a phone to check the conditions of the water damage sticker only to find it missing and see droplets of water and spots of corrosion inside. Obviously this is water damage and the owner had tried to outsmart the technician (being me). Although there was no sticker for me to verify water damage the owner apparently didn't think that I would notice the water droplets and corrosion.

REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU DO, YOUR GOING
TO GET CONDENSATION. its surprising after
All this time manufactures don't take that
into account when designing a portable
product. - YOU GOT POWER, DATA AND A GROUND
WHATS THE REST OF THE ROADS FOR? THE LAYOUT
COULD BE BETTER. the tubes had all thoes pins too,
because they couldn't get the circuits inside them and it
made them sit more stable.

The same thing just happened to me. With a piece of equipment this expensive, I've been extremely careful with handling it. The only moisture that it could have encountered was on a rainy day, when I plugged in my headphones to listen to music - literally a few seconds in the open air, possibly a drop or two on the jack. Nothing that I'd ever expect to qualify as water damage. This happened about a month ago, and there were no problems, until just two days ago, seemingly out of nowhere, my phone started acting up. I figured it was related to an app that I'd installed on it the day before, so when I took it into the apple store, I was told that the device has water damage and they won't replace or support it in any way.

I can understand not replacing a phone that was damaged by having it dumped in a glass of beer. But sweat and rain?

I'd go in on a class action lawsuit any day. Feel free to contact me if anyone seriously wants to pursue this.

Regards,
Michael

Keep dreaming about your class action law suit.....Why not try keeping it out the rain and stop sweating all over it?

OJ, Keep dreaming that by repeating yourself, people will actually believe your cynical drivel. It may be a lost cause, but it also might influence Apple to make better design decisions in the future. On the thin hope that making some noise might make a difference, I'm willing to expend a little time and energy.
