Not a big deal for me (emails with sound). But somebody might like this.

yes. iphone supports mp3 for sure.

i tried to listen to espn pod cast with my iphone and it worked.

Very nice, I get voicemails for my companies 800 number via email attached as a .wav so this will be a huge improvement, cheers to apple.

I'm guessing you were doing this thru safari? If so, safari has always had the ability to play mp3 files.
