it's sooooo worth it, and restore works fine. no phone has ever been harmed during jailbreak.

It's seriously awesome. Themes, games, sweet apps, tons of cool stuff you can do that Apple will never let you do, or they'll charge you for it.

Check out Intelliscreen, iPhysics, PhoneZap, VideoRecorder... just a few of the amazing apps only available after you jailbreak. Do it! You won't regret it. I promise!

Now back to the original problem. I have the bug. Has anyone restored their phone to see if that's the problem?

my wife's phone had that problem too. Regardless of how many restores to a "new phone" or the restores of her backup, it still did it and she never had anything plugged in but the power cord. The apple store couldn't figure it out either, so they just replaced it. No problems since. I know its not a fix for the glitch, but it is an answer to the problem.

Default ideas

Just a long shot: I have noticed that the pop up appears after my phone is done scanning for connection (a second or two). I tried to set it up for a network I don't have access to, and while it was trying to get a connection, the pop up didn't appear. Secondly - my problem started after I purchased and installed the software called "Kate" (www.ripdev.com). I have no idea if that has influenced, but I would like to hear if this sounds familiar to anyone. Good luck guys.

Today I tried something I read a few days ago and everything is back to normal again: the problem seems to be on the connector. The trick is to spray a small quantity of lubricant in the connector, and clean it with a soft brush after some time. Do this with the iPhone switched off. I hope it works for you guys!

Unhappy

Searching the 'Net, I found this thread because I was having the same problem.

I have an iCombi AP21 and Motorola S9 setup that I use when I go walking. I'm used to this message (This accessory was not made to work with iPhone) when I plug in the AP21. Today, though, that message just kept coming back over and over and over ... long after I unplugged the damn adapter.

So, I found that someone stated that dust/debris can build up on the connector. And, living in a house with four cats - it's not unusual for dust to get into every nook and cranny available.

I tried the can of compressed air and it did NOT work ... the first time.

So first, I took a sewing needle and gently scraped around the connector like a dental hygentist says they're doing to your teeth with their scraper . Really, I mostly scraped around on the plastic area and lightly dragged the head of the needle across the pins like running your hands across piano keys (bbbbbbrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnngggggggg).

I then blew the connector out again with compressed air.

I just powered up my iPhone and it's finally not complaining about this phantom accessory.

BTW, running 1.1.4, unlocked/jailbroken with ZiPhone 3.0, on T-Mobile, and loving IntelliScreen.

Ya. I was figuring that problem with my V1 was some kind of short or bridged connection in the dock. Congrats on getting yours to work!

Smile Hurray!! atlast I found a soft fix for this problem!!

Hurray!! atlast I found a soft fix for this problem!!
After searching all the blogs for the solution.. I found nothing..
I hv done some R&D on this and come up with a solution...
The dig for this problem starts from finding the process in which this is causing and killing it.
fortunately I got an application in the installer which shows all the processes that are running in iphone.
The application is 'Sysinfo'..
You ppl don't need to install this.. as i'm having the cause that is affecting this problem.
Ok no more researches...
Please follow the steps to get rid of this vague message.
1. From Installer, Please install the "File Browser" from the 'Productivity' Category.
2. After successfull installation of File Browser, navigate to the following path
"/System/Library/Frameworks/IAP.framework/Support/"
(Default path the file browser will show is "/var/root". Need to change this to the above path. For navigating that you need
to change the settings by clicking on Settings(in File Broser app) and change the Home Directory in Advanced Settings from
'/var/root' to '/')
3. Now you can see a file which starts with 'apd' in the path.
4. Select the file, click on Edit in the bottom and select Delete.
5. Repeat the Delete untill it deletes the file.
6. Now restart your iphone after deleting the file.
Your phone is now free with that message and it will back you all ur features. I'm sure it won't create you any other
problems.
contact me to my mail funnysuresh@gmail.com if u hv any queries.

Default 3G Accessory problem solved!

Here is what Apple doesn't want you to see...
They pulled my posting and sent this response.

Mark,

Your post "Old dock wiring modification for 3G " has been removed from Apple Discussions as the link it contains provides software and/or information that violates the Apple End User License Agreement.

Offending post:
For all you 3G owners that cannot use the old accessories, I have your solution. It is the fire wire power! Just crack open your old docks and cut the traces that feed +12V to the connector (pins 19&20). I still get the error message, but it charges my iPhone now. I'll work on killing the message, but we're in business!
