Default Switching from vertical to hortizontal view

Is it just me or the switching from vertical to horizontal view suppose to be quick. I tried doing that while I was browsing and on album art view. Sometimes it wouldn't switch and sometimes it would and sometimes it would switch by itself and sometimes it would not switch

well i dont know if this is what your doing wrong but if you have the iphone wih its back facing the ground and your trying to flip the orientation mode then its not going to work you have to have the iphone standing straight up 90 degrees pretty much from the ground than you can face the back of the iphhone to the ground once you have rotated it properly and it will stay.

Yeah. I don't think people realize how it works.

It's a very small square with four "pins" on each side (not the corner, but center of the side). When you flip the device gravity will pull the "square" down a little and he pin on that side will make contact to a sensor....that sensor tells the iPhone where it is. Obviously doing this whhile flat wil not work. Go to apple's website and search the sensors video, that is a beautiful demonstaration.
