2.) GPS provides more functionality than the original iphone by locating where you are with the blue dot. So why is it's shortcomings looked at as why the new iphone sucks? That would be mean the old iphone sucks even more because it has even less functionality.

3.) There are actually two ways to tether your iphone 3g...first if its jailbroken use 3proxy and MobileTerminal together to create an adhoc wireless network. If its not jailbroken, the appstore (Yes, the apple appstore) was selling netshare which allows you to tether your iphone.

4.) All of the other shortcomings that are stated in the article we also not present in the 1st iphone. So again......this article is also talking about the first iphone.

To make a long story short.....this article sucks!
No. "many" points are NOT misleading.

Yes, I agree that MM is an optional service and therefore that is a little misleading.

GPS does provide more functionality that the previous iPhone. That's not the point. The point is that is provides LESS functionaliy than other smartphones out there. And yes you are correct. The old iPhone does suck more than the new iPhone, but that has nothing to do with the article.

Jailbreaking an iPhone is not a "solution". The whole point is that other phones are already tetherable right out of the box. Why should anyone hve to jailbreak their phone to get functionality that is incorporated in other phones? I have not used NetShare. I'm going to check that out and see if it works.

Again, no one said the first iPhone didn't have the same shortcomings. I remember countless articles last year with people bemoaning the same issues. The point of the article was not pointing out how great V1 was an how terrible 3G is. The point was to compare the 3G with other phones out there.

Just because someone writes an article with shortcomings doesn't mean they don't like the phone. I think the author clearly stated that it was a great phone, it is just missing some simple things that are considered commonplace in the market.

I just check the appstore (Yes, the apple appstore) and there is nothing on there called "netshare".

- GPS in the iphone is way better than my previous WM phones, way better.

Jailbreaking an iPhone is not a "solution". The whole point is that other phones are already tetherable right out of the box. Why should anyone hve to jailbreak their phone to get functionality that is incorporated in other phones? I have not used NetShare. I'm going to check that out and see if it works.

- I had to hack into my previous WM phones to get them to my liking, I haven't had to jailbreak my iphone and I get better functionality than I ever did with WM.

Again, no one said the first iPhone didn't have the same shortcomings. I remember countless articles last year with people bemoaning the same issues. The point of the article was not pointing out how great V1 was an how terrible 3G is. The point was to compare the 3G with other phones out there.

- There is no comparison, the iphone is a much better device for those needing multimedia functions that are actually useful. Have you used a web browser on another "smartphone"? It's terrible, so terrible I avoided using it, which made the $40 data plan a waste of money.

Just because someone writes an article with shortcomings doesn't mean they don't like the phone. I think the author clearly stated that it was a great phone, it is just missing some simple things that are considered commonplace in the market.

- Some of the common place things in the market are actually useless features in my opinion. I have a real camera, it goes with me when I travel, no need for anything better than 2mp on a phone. Video? You're kidding right? Have you ever seen a good quality video that came from a cell phone? I haven't and I've owned many, another useless feature. MMS, I don't miss it, I never really used it anyways. My nieces use MMS, but they're teenagers...

Netshare was placed into the App Store and removed rather quickly. After about a day Netshare was then put BACK into the App Store, only to be taken down again, for good, after another day or so. I was fortunate enough to be one of the lucky people to download and it works amazingly well.

Well if it's not out there GA then I would have to say that the tethering capability of the iPhone is "0" for the rest of us...

I agree I have hated every WM phone I've owned. The Tilt was fun for the first couple weeks but I grew tired of it very quickly. BB are ok, but less functional than the iPhone. The BB browser sucks. For email, BB is tough to beat though.

Nokia N and E series phone running S60 do support Flash. The N95-4 is the only phone that I have ever liked as much as the iPhone. I still carry it in conjunction with my iPhone. Not sure which one I like better really. But for all the bugs the iPhone has, Apple is more active than any other companies as far as updates and bug fixes. I am confident that within a month or two it's going to be running as smooth as the v1 was on 1.1.4

AMEN to that. I had a blackjack also and if only these naysayers spent even 5 minutes on that phone, they'd STFU about the short comings of the iPhone.
