2.) GPS provides more functionality than the original iphone by locating where you are with the blue dot. So why is it's shortcomings looked at as why the new iphone sucks? That would be mean the old iphone sucks even more because it has even less functionality.
3.) There are actually two ways to tether your iphone 3g...first if its jailbroken use 3proxy and MobileTerminal together to create an adhoc wireless network. If its not jailbroken, the appstore (Yes, the apple appstore) was selling netshare which allows you to tether your iphone.
4.) All of the other shortcomings that are stated in the article we also not present in the 1st iphone. So again......this article is also talking about the first iphone.
To make a long story short.....this article sucks!
No. "many" points are NOT misleading.
Yes, I agree that MM is an optional service and therefore that is a little misleading.
GPS does provide more functionality that the previous iPhone. That's not the point. The point is that is provides LESS functionaliy than other smartphones out there. And yes you are correct. The old iPhone does suck more than the new iPhone, but that has nothing to do with the article.
Jailbreaking an iPhone is not a "solution". The whole point is that other phones are already tetherable right out of the box. Why should anyone hve to jailbreak their phone to get functionality that is incorporated in other phones? I have not used NetShare. I'm going to check that out and see if it works.
Again, no one said the first iPhone didn't have the same shortcomings. I remember countless articles last year with people bemoaning the same issues. The point of the article was not pointing out how great V1 was an how terrible 3G is. The point was to compare the 3G with other phones out there.
Just because someone writes an article with shortcomings doesn't mean they don't like the phone. I think the author clearly stated that it was a great phone, it is just missing some simple things that are considered commonplace in the market.
