Default Screen death!

WELL after having the phone since iDay...numerous falls with out any damages..beside minor scratches on the back...I think that happens no matter what you do. so right on my on the day of my birthday party....boom falls on the concrete and CRACK.....CRACK CRACK.....the glass is busted....although it still works..the glass is all messed up.
well I know my options:
1. Deal with Apple and shell out $200-250.00
2. Do it myself $150-$200, risking total damage.
3. Do the $5.00 dollar repair that I've seen online, which is so retarded.
4. Pray and hope the Geniuses at the apple store will have some compassion and give me another one....

Just wanted the forums feed back..thanks guys and gals...

UPDATE: I do remember having a $100.00 store credit...would that help?

Where do you get $200 from for a self repair?I paid about $30 for the glass off ebay. Instructions and pictures for the replacement will be going here as soon as I finish installing it. http://www.everythingicafe.com/forum...one-27491.html

I highly doubt Apple would even consider replacing it free of charge but if the phone is still in operating order then I would just wait until the new iPhone is released. It should (hopefully) be soon enough and you could put the $250 for a repair towards the price of a brand new 2nd generation.

Do you think apple will trade you a 1g iphone for a 2g iphone for the repair price of 250$
