Replacing the glass?

I've got an old-school 2G with a perfectly functioning digitizer, but the glass is cracked.

Is it possible to replace just the glass without doing the whole digitizer?

Not 100% sure, but I believe the glass and digitizer are one piece for the V2.

I also have a similar inquiry. How can you tell your digitizer does not work? If your screen is cracked you cannot use the touch function of the phone at all correct?
