Default question about data plan cost and iphone monthly cost

I was all set to buy an Iphone today at an apple store but now they say I have to pay a monthly data plan for an extra $30 a month. I thought I was going to be paying $79.99 for 900 minutes including that data stuff? Did I get the wrong info? When I checked into getting an iphone a few months ago they never told me of this fee??? So what does an average 900 minute plan phonebill come to with no extra text messaging?

A 900 minute plan is 59.99, and then for the iPhone data plan is $20.00, which include 200 text messages.

I believe it's another $10 for more text, but I cannot remember how much.

Thanks! That's what I thought too. I think this sales guy was new. I am going to try and get one tonight.

I wouldn't worry about what the sales people say. you activate from iTunes, and it will tell you the rates as you register.
Worst thing that could happen is that you don't see the option you wanted, and you return the phone ( you get 14 days or so)

The $20 iphone data plan is the lowest priced option. You can choose the $30 and $40 plans if you like.
