Default power button isnt working :(

hey guys my step dad recently upgraded to the 3gs so gave me his old 2g phone and its on 3.0. im trying to jailbreak and unlock it but the power button isnt working. it doesnt lock or reboot. so as i need to get it into dfu mode it cant! can anyone help?

I think you can put the phone into DFU mode by holding the home button whilst turning the iphone on when connected to Itunes. iTunes will then detect an iPhone in restore mode?

There might be a software problem in your iphone. I think your power button is alright.

Constantly having to be tethered to a charger is NOT MOBILE in my opinion (I.e., iPhone 3GS battery).
