My family is from Jamaica (they are all indian though, not african american) and they LOVE that. My dad has a few trees....

In the Philippines it's called Atis, and is one of my favorite fruits

. Here's a link about it. In Wikipedia it is called sugar-apple. So you're actually growing it in southern California?

Jamaicans seem to call stuff whatever. lol. They call it sweet sap. They love it. I'm not a big fan. I moved from Florida, where some of my family is, and that's where the trees are...

Yeah it can get pretty messy and the texture needs a little getting use to.
