Happy,

I know you're not crazy. On my phone, I get that message, but only in one city.

I travel all over Oregon and Washington. When I am in Sun River, I get that call forwarding message when i dial out. The service there is really weird, too. Full bars one second, no service at other times. Standing in the same place. The service issue was the same with my old phone, too. I'm going to Reno later this week. I'll continue to look for this message.

I can only guess it may depend on if you are Roaming and who's network you are Roaming on. Check out ATT service map. Let me see if I can find it.

I realize as others may not that you folks from the low country's holy city shrine are better and smarter than the rest of us midland folks so riddle me this. Why doesn't everyone have this call fwd interference? Why if you turn Call FWD on, it then asks you for a phone number to forward to like, you know sort of like call forwarding really works that it forwards incoming calls not outgoing. Why have the Apple techs have no explanation for stopping it. Yes it usually does go away after the call connects but its a minor annoyance to have to tap another button to get to the other features and selections like speaker phone, change to bluetooth, bring up dial pad, whatever, particularly when driving, its just one more thing you have to tap. I see no reason for this being a feature that helps IF you have call fwd turned off. It cannot be normal.

As you know you can also turn Call Wait on and off. It does not matter how this is set either as far as the CallFwd/Dismiss message popping up. if what you said were true, then with Call Waiting turned on, the calls do not go to Voicemail so there would be no need for forwarding.

From the USer Guide

Call Forwarding
You can set iPhone to forward incoming calls to another number. You may, for example,
be on vacation and want all calls to go somewhere else. If you’re going to an area with
no cell coverage, you may want to forward calls to a place where you can be reached.

Set iPhone to forward your calls
1 From the Home screen choose Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding and turn Call
Forwarding on.
2 Tap Forwarding To and enter the phone number you want calls forwarded to.
You must be in range of the cell network when you set iPhone to forward calls, or calls
won’t be forwarded.

Call Waiting
Activate or deactivate call waiting

From the Home screen choose Settings > Phone > Call Waiting, then turn Call Waiting
on or off. If you turn call waiting off and someone calls you when you’re already on the
phone, the call goes to voicemail.

Ok.. Since Happy think's he's soooo smart.. I'll put it in smaller terms...

Think of it like a landline....

Person "A" makes a phone call, and the call is "ringing", and hasn't connected, and Person "B" tries to call person "A", what happens? Busy signal right? RIGHT!

Sooo.. In the iPhone's case, it uses call forwarding to send person "B" to person "A"'s voicemail, until person "A"'s call connects, and call waiting can be used...

Why does this not make sense...

Oh yeah, and I may live in Charleston, but I'm not from here, because this place is a little dense.. You midlands people have GOT to be a little quicker.

Now, I'm off to have my mommy tuck me in, because it sucks being 35 and single and living at home...

SCMedic, while your explanation seems logical it doesn't explain why for most people this doesn't happen. It has never happened to me, for instance; nor would I want it to. Seems like just an annoyance, nothing more--and a confusing one at that. Most people are not going to understand what that message is trying to convey, which itself is an indication it shouldn't be displayed.

If your explanation is correct, then perhaps only certain areas are affected.

Well, either way, that's why it's there.. It's on every iPhone I've tried, as it's part of the firmware.. Some people may just not notice it.
