Not receiving texts

I apologize if this question has been asked/answered, but I can't seem to find it anywhere on here or modmyiphone.com.

Are any of you experiencing difficulty receiving texts from others? I am able to get the ones that AT&T sends, but other than that..nothing. And I know that people have received mine, but I did not get theirs.

I activated my phone yesterday at 4pm and transferred my number from T-Mobile.

I did have an issue that involved me putting in the wrong number to be transfered...and it resulted in me having to reactivate my iPhone with a new SIM card. That was fun...(I live an hour away from an AT&T store). But the phone is running smoothly now..and the texting seems to be the only issue right now...

Gmail is another story.

im having the same problem...

yesterday i could only receive text messages from a friend who had the iphone also..other than that i didnt receieve anything but i could send them

but this mornign i started 2 get some text messages..but my girl has nextel and she said when she tried sending me one she got a receipt saying it didnt deliever it so im getting kinda anoyyed...

I can understand. I use texting alot. But I'm going to be patient...and wait until tomorrow to call AT&T...since you can't talk to any representatives on Sundays.

Did text messaging start automatically for any of you guys?

For the first day I could send to anyone but only receive from other at&t phones. Like you with the other iPhone user. Both using the same sms server from the same providers.

I think when you get a new number it takes awhile for the other providers sms server's to find you.

Mine started working the 2nd day.

I transfered mine from T-Mobile...so it's the same number. I think it might be a congestion issues...or who knows what is going on behind the scenes..lol

my phone had trouble sending messege I'm site it is the same problem att is just over loaded of will resolve itself

So when someone not on at&t sends you a text the message goes out on the cell network to find your provider. The SMS servers are sending the text message to T-Mobile. The T-Mobile server is rejecting them since you are no longer active. So they are lost.

At night when the SMS servers all talk and trade info, the SMS serverd will get updated and see your number is now at at&t and start sending your messages there.

Give it time. It does not work as fast as moving the voice line.

i have this problem as i can get text from att but the text i get comes through the other phone i have that i transfered the number to my iphone anyway to fix that

got nothing to add but following with interest as I can neither send nor receive. It appears to send but recipient does not get it.

My porting is not compelte yet, so I am on a ATT number.
