Default No tab for Ringtones?

In the iPhone Activation and Sync Video did anyone notice there was no tab for ringtones? I take that as a good sign...

Also, random question: what if my computer has such little hard drive space that I don't keep my music stored on my iTunes? If the iPhone is supposed to sync with iTunes wouldn't this screw me? Is there per chance a "manual" way to load what you want specifically onto the iPhone (like there is with the iPod)?

Thanks!

I haven't either, up until recently. I just add it to my computer temprorarily, then "Sync" it. Or, you can just put the CD in the drive, or add whatever other kind of drive you have it stored on, and hit "Sync". When you Sync later, and it's not there, it won't remove it from the iPhone / iPod.

Why would that be a good sign? I thought everyone WANTED a tab for ringtones to be able to easily put customized tones on their phone... Wouldn't the fact that there was NOT a tab be BAD news? Of course, we won't know for sure whether that feature will be available until iDay....

I'm just thinking it might increase the chances for you to use ACTUAL songs from your iTunes as ringtones instead of crappy commercialized songs you pay money for...

Ah... I hadn't thought of it that way. Interesting... It would seem to be a good sign that Apple's not planning to shove the ringtone moneymaker down our throats. So, maybe you're right about the sign!! But... What if it's a sign that we're stuck with the pre-programmed ringtones?!

Argh!! Come on, June 29th!! Get here already!!

This was posted in the 80gb iphone thread. The consensus was that they used an ipod for the demo.

That would make sense as to why there was no ringtones tab. I've been avoiding the 80gb iPhone threads... That's just crazy talk. Thanks for the heads up with the possible explanation!

what we want is to be able to use iTunes to create our own ring tones from our own songs that we already own. It should be illegal for cell phone companies to force you to pay again for a ring tone of a song we already own.

I actually broke down and bought a ring tone with verizon. Payed $2.99 (I think) for a snippet of a song I already owned. It was the wrong snippet of a song that had a perfect snippet to use for a ring tone.

Not only did I pay $2.99, my phone had software that let you upload your own ringtones and music, but Verizon disables that software in the phone before they sell it.

Yea of all the cell phone companies I've used Verizon was the worst.. They're all in it to make money but Verizon just sticks it to you whenever they get the chance. 8(
