new message (txt, email) sounds not working

I started a new thread to differentiate with my trash sound issue.

My iphone does not alert me to new text messages...or emails when it is in the "blackout" mode. Sorry being a noob and not knowing the right term. When it is on and showing things on the screen, the notification sounds alert with no problem..

However, when i have it in "sleep" "blackout" mode, i dont get any sounds (alerts) or even a vibration...


Any suggestions? I hope it wont be to restore...PIA to redo all my settings, contacts...etc...

so other folks dont hear a sound when you have your screen in lock mode??
my phone rings fine, but no alerts.....eg new VM, new txt message, new email.... ???

resyncing fixed this problem
