The "G" in those stands for "Generation", it's not tied to a relational speed difference. It could be approximately .1 mb/s vs 2mb/s which would be a 2000% increase. A 15 times increase is a conservative guess. I'm sure you would have looked this up yourself, but it was probably taking to long to load the search page on your old timey Edge enabled phone.

Honestly, I thought it was self-explanatory, which is why I didn't do further research. I didn't know G was generation, but I figured it was a speed.
Now that I know, it is even more tempting to upgrade. I don't care about the camera or GPS, but I only got the phone at the end of February, so I figure I owe it to myself.
