Default New computer, but...

Alright, so i got my new computer for college but i'm having some trouble. When i connect my iphone to the laptop, it shows up and everything and i've been able to sync data like me email, contacts etc...but when i try to get my applications on it, it says are you sure you want to overwrite the applications on this iphone with those on your itunes? Obviously not because 1) I dont have any apps on this itunes yet and 2) i want to get the applications from the iphone onto the itunes. I assume this is for the same reason you can't take one ipod's music and bring it to another computer and take it without clearing the library (unless your using software). So how do i get my applications into my new computer? Thanks

-Evan

Once you purchase an Application you can download it as many times as you would like.

1. Authorize your new Computer
In iTunes->Store->Authorize
2. Sign in if not already signed in
In iTunes->Store->sign in
3. Re download the apps on iTunes

I am not sure, but that should do the trick

About step 3... They will charge you again when you download the apps.

I wonder if (after following AppleHead's procedure - minus step 3) can you right click on the iPhone under devices in itunes (or go to the file pulldown) and select "Transfer purchases."

EDIT:
Another step:
If you have access to your old computer, you can find the apps folder and copy them to a disk then put them into the apps folder in your new computer. After you authorize the new computer the apps in the folder should work.

The folder should be... (in windows - Not sure about mac.)
Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications

BTW. Make sure you UNauthorize your old computer. You only get 5.

Not true. You can download again after purchase.

Really? When I try to download a free app that I've already downloaded, it warns me that I already downloaded it and asks if I want to download it again for free. I assumed that it would warn you about payed apps and tell you that you will have to pay for them again. I know that they charge you twice for downloading music twice.

Hmm... wait a second... This can't be true. If it is then you can conceivably authorize 4 of your friends' computers and they can download all of the apps that you've purchased for free. Or does Apple allow that?

even paid apps, I've downloaded again for free on my wife's phone and I got the same "do you want to download for free" warning.

I bought Pianist on the iPhone and I was able to download in iTunes for free without any problems.
