Default need help on iPhone Unlock V1

Hi guys, i know i'm new here to ask for help, but i'm a long time lurker and people here are very friendly and educated on iPhones and mobile phones.

anyways, i bought a v1 4gig iPhone and currently it's running 2.0 unlock firmware... but im one of those guys that always want to update my stuff and dont want to get behind the updates. I dont really mind relocking the iphone i bought since im with at&t and beside the cydia that was installed on this is currently not working. It's just crash to my screen everytime i try to open it.

so I want to restore the iphone from it's original software like it was when the first time was bought. I want it all default and just update it to 2.0.1 firmware without breaking the iphone.

any procedue to this? or just plug in my unlock iphone to and let the itunes do the rest?

any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

currently you cannot update to 2.1 and unlock it. But I am sure that you will real soon as long as you are v1.

Now, with a little searching around here you might be able
to go to a 1.1.4 firmware and get Installer but it takes alot
of steps. Best thing right now is to wait.

ok.. last question.. so my iphone is UNLOCK and Jailbroken (has the cydia and so i'm assuming it's jailbroken).. The BIG question is (im new to this) "is it safe to restore my iphone through iTunes to restore to it's factory settings?" I have the 4Gig V1 iPhone i just bought today. Im with AT&T so i dont need to be unlock or jailbroken.

any help would be great and appreciated. THX
