Just started happening to my V1 also. Let it go to sleep and after a couple of minutes try to waken with the home button, nothing, try on/off button, nothing. Both together to reset and up comes the logo. Did anyone find a solution? Tried a full restore which made no diference. Begining to think this is a harware fault like a battery issue? There are three wires connecting the battery, I wonder if something could be faulty there, I presume one wire is for normal operation, one is neutral and the third is sleep/background low power. Pain in the backside as I was planning selling this week...

Exclamation My iPhone screen also goes dead on 90% of my calls

I have my second first generation iPhone and I have the same problem whereas the screen disappears and I cannot hit any keys to get the phone to respond. I have tried to diagnose the problem but cannot. Only using the power button at the top sometimes gets the locked screen to return. But I can never load a phone number or other information from callers.

Also, I learned a hard lesson overseas last year. I ran up about $1200 in charges because my iPhone was searching for the Edge network, even when I was asleep, etc. I was in Ireland and England, and there were two emails that I thought were sent while I was in my cousin's Wi-Fi house. But they had gone into my "outbox" and spent the following week, 24/7, searching for connectivity. And they were never sent. But those two e-mails cost me over $1200 for their "search" work. Be sure to turn off most features while overseas or in rural areas. Or get another full time job to pay the bill when you return!
