My iPhone keeps turning off!!!

So what are you doing then? To me a "soft reset" is pressing the lock button until the red slider appears at the top, then sliding it off, then pressing the lock button again to turn it on. Another way to turn it off would be to hold down the home and lock button for 5 seconds. Holding them 7 seconds will then turn the phone on again.

I just can't quite visualize your situation. The phone is on, you're doing something, all of a sudden... blank screen? Then you... what?

lol no i have my phone on and maybe after a couple of hours when i go to make a call or something its suddenly off then it seems that the only way to turn it back on is to do a hard reset...
(i got confused before with the soft reset)

hehe, yer killin me here. What do you mean by "hard reset"? If the lock button is unresponsive, what else are you doing to turn it on?

thats all doing im not sure whats happening but those are the buttons im pushing to turn it back on

Well then this statement is confusing. I think you're referring to the home button in this quote?

Regardless, this is not ordinary behavior for a stock iPhone. I would go to settings/general/reset and hit "reset all settings". You will, of course, have to redo your settings after this.

If that doesn't change things, a restore through iTunes is in order.

No, the only thing that gets affected here is stuff in the settings page... auto-lock time, screen brightness, contact sort order...that sort of stuff. You'll just have to step through all those categories and put them back to how you want them. Takes a minute at the most.
